Jury is still out

I've held off writing this review as I really wanted this to work and fix all my families ailments. I have a 2 year old son with Eczema that gives him difficulty sleeping and my partner suffers with Asthma which is at it's worst in the winter.
The Blueaire is well made, easy to use and on the lowest setting powerful enough to give good air circulation whilst being almost silent.
The WiFi connectivity is useful for setting routines and it supports IFTTT and Amazon Alexa but not Apple HomeKit (though it does have it's own iOS app).
It is reasonably light and easy to move from room to room if desired but you do need to position it 10cm away from surfaces which can make it a bit awkward in smaller rooms and it cannot be located too close to curtains or other loose fabrics as they are easy sucked against the inlet.
Unfortunately for me the biggest frustrations related to knowing how much of a difference it was making. There is nothing other than your own perception (without buying an additional monitor) to tell you; Is it improving air quality? Does it still need to be on? How early before bed should I start it running?
There is an 'Outdoor Air' section in the app that looks at air quality in your area but unfortunately my nearest location was 35miles away and not representative of where I live. On that topic the filters have a 180 day life before they need replacing but that is saying the filter needs replacing at the same rate whether in inner city London or the highlands of Scotland which I can't believe is the case. I've looked at the cost of replacement and they are approximately £50 each so not cheap.
Did it Improve my families health? It's too early to say. I used it for a week in my son's room and didn't notice any real improvement however I then moved it in to our room and noticed that my partner didn't need her inhaler before bed so the jury is still out. I hope to get an air quality monitor soon so this could make the difference for me.
Noticeable difference already

I have had my Blue Air purifier for two days now and my initial reaction is that it has made a difference to my health. I have two large dogs, who cannot help but get very muddy in the winter, even though they are washed down after walks they still generate a lot of dust: this has resulted in me waking up with a blocked nose and dry throat. I have seasonal summer asthma so may be more susceptible to dust.
Since switching on the purifier my bunged up feelings have decreased significantly, I must admit that I was a bit sceptical that an air purifier would make a difference but I believe it has.
The unit is sleek and modern looking and would unobtrusively fit in with any decor. It is easy to move around as it has two built in handles and is not really heavy, although it does have a solid build quality feel.
I did download the app to control the unit to my iPad, this was easy to do. From the app you can control fan speed, led display level, see how long the filter will last., and set a night setting for automatic lower fan speed, and to switch off the blue "unit on" visual display.
The filter is easily accessed and changed.
Sound is very difficult to comment on as it is such a personal perception. On high speed the fan is noticeable, but I only put this on for a short time before going to bed, on medium the sound blends into the background, and on low, which is the setting I have it on overnight it does not worry me at all. I can,and do, sleep with a desk fan in the bedroom on hot nights, and the Blue Air is much quieter than that.
All in all I am impressed and will consider buying another unit for the rest of my house; it is a large outlay but if it helps my health then, for me, it would be a good investment.
High quality, app-enabled air purifier

The first unit received was faulty but after contacting Blueair support they very quickly arranged for a replacement unit the next day and free collection of the faulty unit.

Wifi setup was straightforward using the free Blueair Friend App. Once connected the fan speed, LED brightness, child lock and night mode settings can be configured remotely. The App is well designed and also provides access to data from outdoor air quality monitors around the world. The top panel on the device allows for easy manual control of the fan speed as well as providing an indication of the wifi connectivity status and filter status. These controls are hidden under a flip-up lid on the top of the device. At low fan speeds it is very quiet although the highest fan speed is considerably louder. It is lightweight and manoeuvrable although it requires a 10cm space behind the unit for the air intake. The filter lasts for 180 days of actual running time so the frequency of changes will depend on usage.

As this device has no built in air quality monitor it has to be paired with the separate Blueair Aware device to enable it to automatically respond to changes in the air quality. Other models have the air quality monitor built in which may be a better option. Blueair provide an IFTTT channel which enables the fan speed to be set based on any of the supported triggers. The device itself cannot act as an IFTTT trigger for other devices. It also supports Amazon Echo and Alexa. In terms of air quality it is very hard to determine exact performance without an air quality monitor but the room does seem fresher after it has been on.

Pros:
* Simple Wifi connectivity setup via the App
* Control remotely via well designed App
* Quiet at lowest fan speed
* Attractive modern design
* Excellent customer support
* Lightweight

Cons:
* Requires separate Blueair Aware device for automatic operation based on actual air quality
* Noisy at highest fan speed
I'm sure it's doing the job but it's hard to tell

This is obviously a quality made product and it is very easy to set up and operate. However, without the additional monitor which is built in for some models (not this one) it is hard to know if it is improving the air quality or not. I believe it is possible to link this model to an external monitor and I think I will make this purchase as without it, I think the air purifier could be switched on when it doesn't need to be (and vice versa). If I had the choice I would opt for the purifier with the inbuilt monitor as they are quite expensive to buy separately.
We have the air purifier in our bedroom and have it switched on at the lowest setting overnight - My husband has moderate asthma and (disappointingly) hasn't noticed any change in his symptoms. I have hayfever and think i am marginally less stuffy in the morning - however, we've only been using for a couple of weeks, so perhaps this will improve over time?
Whilst the air purifier is easy to set up and get running i think the instructions would benefit from some 'top tips' about how to get the best out of the machine and in what situations it is best to use etc.
Overall, a good product but I think given the option I would go for the next model up with the in-built monitor to have the confidence that the air is actually getting cleaner!
